• Less active, less fit people have a 30-50% greater risk for developing high blood pressure.

• Get moving! Research shows that just two 5-minute walks each day will get you started in the right direction.

• Reduce stress. Some scientists have noted a relationship between coronary heart disease risk and stress in a person’s life that may affect the risk factors for heart disease and stroke. For example, people under stress may overeat, start smoking or smoke more than they otherwise would. Research has even shown that stress reaction in young adults predicts middle-age blood pressure risk.

April-Injury Prevention Month

Avoid a fall by slip-proofing your bathroom! Bare feet and water create a slick combination. Make sure your bathroom has anti-slip mats both inside and outside of the shower area. If possible, install grab handles to provide additional support when maneuvering in and out of the bath area.
